This Valentine’s Day, love will be in the air and on the ice as the Downtown Detroit Partnership hosts its annual Sweetheart Skate at The Rink at Campus Martius Park, ranked the No. 1 ice skating rink in the nation by USA Today’s 10Best. Presented by Visit Detroit, this enchanting event invites couples and loved ones of all ages to glide hand in hand under the city lights, creating magical memories in one of the most romantic winter destinations. With hundreds of proposals happening here each year, The Rink has become the ultimate spot for love stories and this year, skaters will also have the chance to win tickets to a Broadway show in Detroit.
Laura Dean, Director of Parks and Public Spaces Programs at the Downtown Detroit Partnership highlighted the Rink at Campus Martius Park is a quintessential Valentine’s Day destination in Detroit.
“There’s nothing quite like gliding hand-in-hand on the ice, surrounded by the warm glow of twinkling lights and the stunning Detroit skyline,” Dean said.
“It’s a beautiful way for couples to celebrate love while creating memories that will last long after the ice melts.”
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., The Rink will transform into a romantic haven, bathed in enchanting pink and red mood lighting that dances across the ice, creating a whimsical and intimate atmosphere. As skaters glide under the glow, they’ll be serenaded by a mix of feel-good ballads and timeless love songs that capture the essence of romance, setting the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable evening.
To add to the excitement, guests will also have the opportunity to enter a special drawing for a chance to win tickets to an upcoming show, generously provided by Broadway in Detroit, making this event not just a night of skating, but a memorable experience filled with music and potential surprises.

This three hour Valentine’s-themed skating opportunity at The Rink isn’t just for sweethearts and spouses. Singles looking for a night out on the town are invited to come downtown, have dinner and celebrate friendship with their pals at the premier outdoor skating rink in the nation.
The Rink at Campus Martius Park presented by Visit Detroit is open to the public daily, including holidays, through March 2, 2025. A limited number of walk-up tickets are available per session on a first come, first served basis.
