Get it, First Lady: Michelle Obama Launches A Children’s Show On Netflix

Michelle Obama continues to amaze us with her multifaceted talents and skills, and we stan, First Lady. Her latest venture, “Waffles + Mochi” showcases another layer of her works and is the latest project of Higher Ground Productions, through the Barack and Michelle Obama production company, Essence reports.

Obama announced earlier this week that she will be launching the new children’s show on Netflix. Obama announced on Twitter to reveal the news that the show will premiere on Netflix on March 16.

“I’m excited for families and children everywhere to join us on our adventures as we discover, cook, and eat delicious food from all over the world,” Obama posted in her tweet.

She also shared that the new show is in collaboration with the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) “to help kids build healthy habits and help families in need cook with fresh ingredients together at home.”

Obama presently serves as an honorary chair

for PHA, and she will star in the show as the primary character while also wearing another hat as an executive producer. The show will have Obama as a supermarket owner along with two puppets, named Waffles and Mochi. The group is on the road to becoming chefs while teaching the young viewers the importance of incorporating wellness into their daily habits.

According to a tweet from Strong Black Lead, the featured puppets “come from the land of frozen foods,” but with the help of Obama, they are gearing up to “blast off on global ingredient missions, traveling to kitchens, restaurants, farms, and homes all over the world.”

The premise of the show goes along with Obama’s national advocacy to prevent childhood obesity during her time as First Lady. During her days in the White House, she promoted the “Let’s Move!” campaign, healthy eating platforms, and initiatives to offer families access to affordable foods, according to the magazine article.

We can’t wait to see it, Mrs. Obama.
