Genelle Allen, Esq. named Assistant County Executive

Wayne County Executive Warren Evans has named attorney Genelle Allen, who has extensive leadership and procurement experience, as Assistant County Executive.
“My administration has assembled an executive team that is ready to restore the public’s confidence in county government,” Evans said.
Allen, a former vice president at Jacobsen Daniels Associates and Deputy Chief Executive Officer for the Wayne County Airport Authority, has a resume that boasts of successes in both the public and private sectors. Upon graduation from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 1985, she got her start in the private sector working as a staff attorney and law clerk with Legal Services of Eastern Michigan. Her introduction to the private sector came in 1991, when she was named Assistant Director of Law in the City of Cleveland’s Law Department.
“Genelle has a wealth of management, legal and procurement experience that will greatly benefit the County” said Evans.
Allen held several positions in her more than 14 years of service with the WCAA. She started at the WCAA in 1997 as in-house counsel, where she provided legal advice on a broad array of issues, including procurement matters. She was later named Sr. Vice President for Procurement and Strategy Management from which she was promoted to Executive Vice President. Before retiring from the WCAA as Deputy Chief Executive Officer in 2012, she served as the Interim CEO from 2010-2011.
“I’m excited to join Wayne County Executive Warren Evans’ team. My focus will be on enhancing operational efficiencies as we resolve the severe financial conditions that currently exist,” said Allen. “I look forward to working with staff, the Wayne County Commission, and other key stakeholders to restore the County to a vibrant organization that is fiscally prudent and operationally sound,” she added.
“We are all working hard to bring fiscal accountability and more efficient and better government services to Wayne County residents,” said Evans.
