Rattle Run recently announced Affordable Family Golf on Saturday afternoons from 2:30 to 4 p.m.  Juniors can golf free with the purchase of a round of golf (by parent or guardian) for $15. The Pro Shop manager says, “These are some amazing discounts.”

There is also an exciting Junior Golf League at Rattle Run starting Monday June 14. The Junior Golf League includes golf lessons from the PGA Teaching professional Norris Denno, a T-shirt and practice time on the course. Any interested Junior Golfers can call Rattle Run at (810) 329-2070 and ask for the Pro Shop to sign up.

Built on 178 acres in southwestern St. Clair County, this 18-hole course is viewed as one of the finest public golf courses in the United States.Designed in 1977 by Lou Powers, the course plays to 6,900 yards from back tees. golf. In 2003 the Detroit Free Press rated Rattle Run No. 8 out of over 200 courses in Southeastern Michigan and Hole No. 6 as one of the best holes in Michigan.

The credit for keeping Rattle Run top in the state is being given to the course’s management team, PGA professional Norris Denno and Superintendent Dennis Jannetta, according to the co-owners Brian Hunt and Gerry Behaylo.

“We are trying to give the golfers an ‘up north’ feeling when the play here,” Hunt said. “It seems to be working because every day we have golfers com in and tell us how much they enjoyed their rounds and that they will be coming back.”

Golfers are struck by the beauty of the tree lined fairways. Once teeing off, golfers get a firsthand look at the 72 bunkers and the water hazards which majestically winds its way through 15 of the 18 holes. Behaylo said “This is a tough course, but a fun course. I feel that it would be a great place to learn the ins and outs of golf.”
