Last week, the Michigan Attorney General’s Office announced charges against Snyder and eight other former Michigan public officials.
Snyder was charged with two counts of willful neglect of duty for his reported role connected to the Flint water issues. He was arraigned and given a $10,000 personal bond for each count with conditions he personally appears for all standard court hearings. He has pleaded not guilty on the charges.
Michigan Solicitor General Fadwa Hammoud and Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy announced recently that after 12 months of grand jury proceedings nine individuals [including Snyder] were indicted on a total of 42 counts related to a series of alleged actions and inactions that created the Flint Water Crisis, according to a press release from the Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.
The Chief Judge of the Seventh Circuit in Genesee County appointed Judge David Newblatt to act as a one-man grand jury to investigate crimes related to the crisis, the report added. Indictments were issued after the grand juror listened to and evaluated the evidence presented.
