Flavor Flav has been charged with driving under the influence involving cocaine, speeding and having an open container of alcohol in the car when cops pulled him over in May near the Las Vegas airport. The AP reports that prosecutors charged the former rapper/reality television star on July 16.
The Nevada Highway Patrol said Flav was pulled over for traveling 87 mph in a 65 mph zone. According to TMZ, cops saw an open beer bottle in the center console, and because the car smelled like weed, Flav admitted he had smoked pot “not too long ago.” When an EMT took his blood at the station it tested positive for cocaine. He was arrested on the suspicion of DUI, marijuana possession, having an open container of alcohol, driving a vehicle with suspended registration and driving with a suspended license. His lawyer has yet to comment on the matter.
Born William Jonathan Drayton, Flav lost the last remaining of his Flavor Flav’s Chicken & Ribs back in 2013. Located in Detroit, the chicken joint went out of business after months of not paying rent. His previous two, Flav’s Fried Chicken in Iowa and House of Flavor in Las Vegas, both closed within six months of opening. Flav wasn’t involved in the day-to-day operations of his restaurants, he simply chose bad business partners.
Meanwhile, a video recently uploaded to YouTube shows Flav and an unidentified man flashing wads of cash and vowing to bail rapper Bobby Shmurda out of jail. Peep the video below.
Bobby, as well as rapper Rowdy Rebel, and the rest of the GS9 crew are being held in Rikers on multiple charges. Each member denied the plea deal offered and their cases will go to trial in October. Whether Flav actually comes through with that $2 million bail money remains to be seen.
