Renowned designer, England raises the bar and cancer awareness with celeb filled event.
Detroit – Designer, Mark England never stopped sketching, sewing, styling, illustrating and breathing fashion – even after being diagnosed with lymphoma earlier this year. So once the chemotherapy stopped and the doctor’s cleared him, he was back to work. It was like he hadn’t missed a beat.
Yet, an undeniable fire had been lit. How could he have been diagnosed with the Big C? “Unfortunately, anyone can get it,” says England. He has made it his mission to use his skill and trade to raise awareness in the fight against cancer.
Saturday, September 28, in partnership with Karmano’s Cancer Institute, England along with three other featured designers take over the Detroit Opera House for a night of luxury and elegance for Fashion Fights Cancer.
Iconic design studio, The House of Cedi along with Franklin Rowe International and a special jewelry collection by Carolyn Ferrari are the night‘s fare. It’s a feast for the eyes where delectable patterns and modern design do the tango. Designs from England’s store, The Runway, will be available with several pieces prominently featured during the night’s event.
Black tie optional, the doors open at 6pm and show time is promptly at 7:30pm. The night will feature the crowd moving sounds of R&B artist Dwele along with K’Jon, Mario Winans, and Detroit’s own Elijah Connor. Celebrity guests, Shannon “Slam” Ridley of Bad Boy Entertainment and producer Michael J. Powell along with special hosts Ed Foxworth and Ramona Prater.
“The champagne will flow [to end cancer] that night,” said England. “I want people to come [and] I want them to bring their checkbooks. We’re raising money for a great cause.”
