Despite the flamboyant, self-centered and bombastic Ray J headlining “Love and Hip Hop L.A.,” producers decry the boring story lines and cast members who are about as interesting as as two-day-old oatmeal.

Circus-tamer and shameless show peddler Mona Scott Young needed to administer CPR on a reality TV program that was reportedly on its death bed.

The antidote that Young used to revive the show? Rapper Soulja Boy.

Entertainment blog TMZ has learned the “Crank That” rapper’s just been added to the cast of “Love & Hip Hop: L.A” because producers felt they needed a known commodity to serve as the serum to heal whatever is ailing the third incarnation of the “Love and Hop Hop” franchise.

Young and the other producers believe that adding Soulja Boy’s quirky characteristics to a Ray J-led lineup will be the ingredients needed to make for a tasteful social brew. Sources close to Ray J say he’s pumped about his new co-star.

Producers of LAHHLA crave drama and the sizzurp-slurpin’ rapper lives and breathes drama.

This may also rescue the other cast member that include Bow Wow’s baby’s mother Miss Joie, Teairra Marí, Omarion and Yung Berg.
