Ex-‘Scandal’ star Columbus Short may be headed to jail

Former “Scandal” star Columbus Short seemed to be on the fast track to lasting Hollywood stardom.
He rocketed to fame playing the lead role of “DJ” in Stomp the Yard opposite Meagan Good (2007), which was No. 1 at the box office two weeks in a row and grossed over $73.4 million, then played alongside another beauty Lauren London along with Mekhi Phifer, in the holiday film called This Christmas (2007).
But it seems as if Short’s personal life and personality closely resembles the very troubled yet talented dancer in that urban classic Stomp the Yard, where a potential fight was always brewing and he was the one who instigated the ruckus.
Short, 33, who last seen in the ABC’s hit “Scandal” alongside Kerry Washington a few years ago, failed a recent drug test while on probation because of his felony assault case. Short tested positive for cocaine and marijuana, prompting a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to set up a May 9 court date to determine if he violated the terms of his probation and what the consequences will be, including the possibility of going to jail, the Associated Press reported.
Short’s propensity for violence is well documented, both inside and outside his household. Short knocked Fenton Hyche III unconscious with vicious punches that broke the man’s nose and fractured his eye socket at a club in Los Angeles in 2014. The actor was also ordered to pay Hyche more than $14,000 in restitution to cover medical bills and lost wages.
Of course, you remember Short being arrested for domestic violence against his then-wife, Tanee Short, in front of his their two young children in February 2014 at his Woodland Hills home. Prosecutors added charges of child abuse because of the emotional trauma the kids suffered by watching their mom getting beat up.
Two weeks later, Short was arrested again after he was accused of pushing Tanee, according to TMZ.
In 2010, Short was prosecuted for a brutal attack on an L.A. basketball court where he sucker punched a player, bashing in his teeth and cutting him. Short pleaded no contest to charges of disturbing the peace but and was charged with aggravated battery. The case was later dismissed.
