The need for resilient and forward-thinking leadership has become increasingly important as the world experiences rapid changes and complex challenges. In response to this new normal, Bishop Edgar Vann, Senior Pastor of Second Ebenezer Church, will host the EVM Strategies Masterclass: Seismic Shift Leadership on March 28-29, 2025, at 14601 Dequindre St., Detroit. This transformative event will bring together faith leaders, entrepreneurs, and young professionals, equipping them with innovative strategies to adapt and lead effectively in today’s evolving landscape.
Bishop Vann, a renowned faith leader and leadership strategist, will be joined by Dr. Samuel Chand, an Atlanta-based church strategist and best-selling author. Together, they will provide invaluable insights on embracing innovation, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in ministry and business, and leading with resilience in the face of disruption.
The rapid acceleration of technology, shifting societal expectations, and economic uncertainty have all contributed to a new era of leadership challenges. Bishop Vann emphasizes the urgency of preparing leaders to navigate these seismic shifts effectively.
“There’s a seismic shift taking place in our world and in our culture. It’s been taking place, but it has become extremely exposed and obvious. Now we’re seeing it, of course, in the political realm. We’re seeing it in the social realm. We’re seeing it in the economic realm and also seeing it in the spiritual realm,” Bishop Vann said.
“So I believe that there is a skill set that is required and necessary for us to be successful in seismic shift times, and so that leadership is the kind of leadership that we’re talking about. We’re moving very, very fast paced, much faster than people know, into technology and into artificial intelligence and into some of the various other digital disciplines. Everyone will have to know how to use AI and how to use advanced technology in order to be marketable.”
With AI and digital transformation revolutionizing industries, churches and businesses must rethink traditional models to remain relevant and effective. The Seismic Shift Leadership Masterclass will explore how faith-based organizations can leverage AI to enhance engagement, streamline operations, and expand their impact.
Bishop Vann emphasizes that faith leaders, business owners, and young professionals must cultivate a mindset that thrives amid uncertainty and disruption.
“We remember segregation, the Civil Rights movement, and now the dismantling of the Department of Education. We’re going to be going back to a time when churches are going to have to take a greater responsibility inside of our communities,” Bishop Vann said.
“So, working together makes that happen, and then the retraining of the workforce is going to be vital to all of us because people would need to have skills that many of them don’t possess. “
Another key theme of the masterclass is resilient leadership in times of crisis and transition. The past few years have tested leaders across industries, revealing the necessity of adaptability, emotional intelligence, and visionary growth.
Dr. Samuel Chand, known for his expertise in organizational leadership and church growth, will share strategies for leading through disruption and fostering resilience, and Bishop Vann echoes that sentiment.
“We must be prepared for disruption. They have to be prepared for the unusual,” Bishop Vann said.
“They have to be prepared for the unconventional. They’re going to have to be prepared for the unprecedented, the unpredictable. This pendulum has swung in this direction, and we will continue to incur the unpredictable and the unprecedented.”
The Seismic Shift Leadership Masterclass promises to be more than just a conference it is designed to be an interactive, transformational experience. Attendees can expect dynamic keynote sessions, panel discussions, and hands-on workshops that provide actionable tools for leadership development.
Professionals and leaders will come together to talk about important issues that will influence the future of both ministry and business. Some of the topics will cover how to use new technologies, like artificial intelligence, to improve operations and foster growth. They’ll also explore effective leadership approaches, ways to stay strong during tough times, and tips for creating teams that achieve lasting success.
Some of the speakers and workshops will also include Mr. Bartel Welch, who will lead “Embracing the AI Revolution,” an interactive session exploring AI’s impact on leadership and community engagement. Dr. E’Lois Thomas will share her journey in “A Journey of Transformation,” offering insights on resilience, mentorship, and navigating corporate change. In “Wake Up Dreamer,” Mr. Major Clora Jr. will inspire attendees with his story of faith and transformation, highlighting his rise as a global leader in mortuary services.
Bishop Vann encourages faith leaders, business owners, and emerging professionals to attend, regardless of where they are in their leadership journey to attend.
“The nimbleness that will be necessary for all leadership in an age like this is going to be paramount. I want to see us prepare our people. And this is why I’m doing this (masterclass), because I believe that if we begin to amalgamate the strength and galvanize the strength that our various sectors have,” Bishop Vann said.
“They’re all necessary for our liberationist people and for our prosperity, and then we’ve got to take those various gifts and appropriate them properly in our community so that we are prepared for the disruptions that inevitably are coming. Will come, have come, continue to come in our community and in our world, so that we are not left behind.”
As the countdown begins to this transformative event, Bishop Vann remains committed to his mission of raising up a new generation of visionary, resilient leaders.
“I’m hoping that people leave this master class saying, You know what? It’s possible we can actually sit together, talk together, interact together, be challenged intellectually together, and we can actually come up with common ground for which we can put some stakes in the ground and begin to build our community, “Bishop Vann said.
