Fans of “Basketball Wives” may remember Evelyn Lozada talking to her sister, Sylvia, and her mother about the fact that her one worry was that her brother-in-law, Anthony Ochoa, who had been suffering through a long bout with cancer, would not live to walk her down the aisle when she married husband Chad Ochocinco Johnson.[1]

“During filming with my sister, my brother-in-law (Anthony) happened to text me and he was crying saying that he will be at my wedding if it’s the last thing he does. It’s tough because Anthony recently had surgery to remove the tumor and he ended up in the hospital again last week because they found more cancer in his intestine and stomach. As much as I want to be positive all the time it’s really hard because I don’t know what’s going to happen. He is always sick, he doesn’t have an appetite and he is going through a tough time. I will be very happy if he makes my wedding day, but I am hoping that he will and I would really appreciate your prayers.”

Thankfully, he did live long enough for that special July 4th day; but tonight, TMZ reports[3] that Anthony passed away with his family around him at the age of 43.
“Anthony was an amazing husband, father, and brother-in-law, said Evelyn in a statement. “He will be dearly missed.”
Anthony and Sylvia were married for over 10 years and share 2 children.

Reports reveal that Anthony is featured prominently in “Ev and Ocho,” the spin-off featuring Evelyn and Chad that was set to premiere September 3, 2012. As previously reported by NewsOne[6], in the light of the recent domestic violence case between the couple, VH1 released the following statement removing the nuptials from their line-up.
“Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series ‘Ev and Ocho’ from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Evelyn and her family at this difficult time.
