Detroit, MI – EOS DETROIT is sending out a call to artists, musicians, photographers, and DJs to sign up for their “Launch Your NFT” workshop. This 2-day crash course in blockchain and NFTs (non-fungible tokens) is taking place on November 13th and 14th, 2021, at the Grand Circus coding boot camp space on 1570 Woodward Avenue, in Detroit, Michigan. Upon completion of the course, participants will have a better understanding of blockchain and the knowledge and tools to launch their own NFTs. Full cost for the workshop is $499. Thanks to generous support from the Knight Foundation, there are 25 scholarships available which cover the full cost of the workshop. The scholarship application form can be found here. Event registration can be completed here. See the full announcement at info.grandcircus.co/nft-blockchain.
WHY THIS WORKSHOP NOW?
The NFT industry is rapidly expanding. Artists have the chance to get into this industry while it is still new, like many other young creators supplementing or earning their entire income through NFTs. For African Americans and other individuals currently underrepresented in the blockchain space, this workshop presents a golden opportunity to take control of their careers by producing and monetizing their own digital artworks verified on the blockchain.
According to Knight Foundation Program Director Nathaniel Wallace, “Knight believes in funding on the fringes, so when Detroit’s creative economy is able to access and leverage the opportunities found in emerging tech, it’s a rising tide.”
JAM-PACKED LESSONS FROM ALL-STAR CAST OF LOCAL EXPERTS
The sessions are jam-packed with information. Among the lessons: participants will learn about different types of blockchain including the WAX ecosystem and cryptocurrency exchanges, and will receive hands-on training in how to create an NFT. Spearheading the workshop is EOS DETROIT, a crypto startup that since 2019 has combined a commitment to developing blockchain infrastructure with a dedication to supporting the local arts community. The company’s COO Adam Zientarski and Managing Director Jerry Rucker (also known as Crypto Blood) will be among the All-Star cast of local experts teaching the course, along with Rob Konsdor (CEO of NFT startup FACINGS) and Nate Talbot (Executive Director of the nonprofit Detroit Blockchain Center). All participants must present proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test.
