Electrifying Opening Night for Detroit Pistons in Home Game Against Chicago Bulls

Detroit Pistons shooting guard Jaden Ivey began with opening remarks from the court floor telling fans, “thank you for your continuous support, it’s going to be a great year, go Pistons!”

Pregame activations included photo opportunities, face painters, balloon artists, airbrush tattoo artists as well as performances by the Detroit Pistons DJ and the Pistons Entertainment teams. All fans were welcomed to their seats with an “Always Detroit Basketball” t-shirt as well.

The Detroit Pistons also introduced its tip-off spot and 2023-24 brand campaign, “Always Detroit Basketball.” Narrated by Detroit-based Lifestyle Specialist Ty Mopkins, the “Always Detroit Basketball” spot brings together on-court action with community and culture highlighting art, music, fashion. The brand feature aims to bring Pistons legends of the past, and the team’s young players together, hoping to inspire the next generations of Pistons fans.

From beginning until end, fans drew a thunderous applaud as cheers and excitement for this young Pistons team reached the rooftop of Little Ceasars Arena, Saturday night.

The team was already hot and motivated from a previous win on the road against the Charlotte Hornets, 111-99.

Saturday night, the Chicago Bulls kicked off first score with a 2 point shot. The first quarter maintained a competitive back and fourth, with up and down leads for Pistons and Bulls. The home team was able to pick up their rhythm, leading by as much as 13 points in the 2nd Quarter at 57-44.

Multiple file calls against the Pistons yielded strong criticism of the referees by fans who chanted “Ref you suck”. That was later followed by team officials posting guidelines of NBA Rules on the big scoreboard screen as a reminder of fan code of conduct.

Bulls would later cut the Pistons lead down to seven to close the 3rd Quarter.

Pistons leads inched up as much as 19 points in the 4th, 99-118, and would close the third regular game of the season at 118 – 102 final.

The home opening game would bring big names in the building, from rapper Sada Baby to Lions GM Brad Holmes, present in audience, and DEJ Loaf as halftime performer.
