Jamila Taylor-Crocker, MD, native Detroiter, attended Hampton University in Hampton, VA, exposing her to the richness and influence of the African American story and experience. It became imperative after college that Dr. Taylor-Crocker create a life demonstrating the success of minorities and allow her to serve as an example in her community. After attending Wayne State University School of Medicine and becoming a Family Physician, Dr. Taylor-Crocker’s initial work directly supported an underserved community in Detroit from which she came.
Dr. Taylor-Crocker enjoys any opportunity to share her knowledge, takes every opportunity to represent primary care and be an engaged ally to all looking to take control of their health. Since returning to the Ascension Health System, Dr Taylor-Crocker participates on several hospital committees and currently serves Medical Director of the Deighton Family Practice Center. Jamila understands that spiritual relationship and guidance is at times more important than the medical advice she provides. As an engaged member of the Spirit of Christ Ministry and the Tish Walker Evangelistic Ministries, she is committed to sharing faith as a focal point of one’s wellbeing.
Dr. Taylor-Crocker’s life experiences, love for Detroit, and work is the foundation for creating service opportunities that she feels is the rent she pays for living. She is a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc-Redford, MI and Motor City chapter of Jack and Jill of America. While Dr Taylor-Crocker finds fulfillment serving in various capacities, her commitment to family and longstanding friend network is her highest priority. Being a daughter, wife to LaTawn and parent to Naima bring balance, joy and motivation to her heavily committed life.
