B. Donta Truss

Vice President for Enrollment and Development
Grand Valley State University

B. Donta Truss has served 22 years strengthening higher education institutions and establishing pathways that provide access to students, especially low-income and first-generation. As an accomplished administrator and educator, his experience ranges from roles at Historically Black Colleges/Universities to Predominantly White Institutions. He has held positions in nearly every branch of academia. Truss is currently Vice President for Enrollment Development and Educational Outreach at Grand Valley State University.

Truss is a triple graduate of Alabama State University. His doctorate is in Educational Leadership, Policy and Law. He has received several commendations, including recognition by his alma mater as a Top 50 Under 50 recipient, Georgia Trend Magazine’s 40 Under 40 leader, and for the Cuthbert Georgia Rotary President’s Award. He is an active member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and holds professional memberships in NASPA, SAIR, and Chi Sigma Iota. Truss also mentors through his nonprofit, Turning Dreams into Reality (TDI), aimed at developing African American Male collegiate scholars.
