DTE Energy Lowers Electric Bills for Residential Customers

While DTE continues to work hard to improve reliability for electric customers, they also have a major focus on bill affordability. That’s why, starting with the November billing cycle, customers are noticing a decrease in their electric bills, thanks to a significant reduction in costs.

DTE is passing on approximately $300 million in savings from fuel and transportation costs, which will lower residential electric bills by about $5 per month, on average, per customer. These savings will help offset the cost of future investments to improve reliability â€” reducing outages by 30% and cutting restoration times in half by the end of 2029.

This reduction is part of DTE’s Power Supply Cost Recovery (PSCR) mechanism, which reflects the actual costs of producing electricity. The new PSCR took effect on Nov. 1, 2024, and will automatically appear on customer monthly bills through 2025.

DTE remains laser-focused on finding ways to save its customers money while working toward a more affordable, reliable and sustainable energy future.
