DTE Energy Beacon Park Announces Fall Lineup of Free Events

DTE Energy Beacon Park Foundation and the Downtown Detroit Partnership are pleased to announce the 2018 fall schedule of free events for Beacon Park, which is located at the corner of Grand River and Cass Ave. in Detroit. Visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy everything the season has to offer beginning in September.

The 4th Annual Parktoberfest returns to Downtown Detroit Sept. 21 – 23 with three full days of free activities and entertainment hosted by Beacon Park. The German-style festival will feature the Big Biergarten Tent, an impressive selection of craft, seasonal and Oktoberfest biers, ceremonial and specialty keg tappings, traditional German sausages, pretzels and other fall-inspired food. In addition, there will be live music, kids activities, traditional dance and stein-hoisting and keg lifting competitions.

The return of Detroit Lions Tailgate Parties welcomes football fans of all ages to enjoy music, lawn games, signature drinks from Lumen, ticket giveaways, tailgate fare for purchase and games live-streamed on the big screen under the comfort of a tent. The party kicks off two hours prior to the following home games:

Monday, Sept. 10 Lions vs. NY Jets, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 23 Lions vs. New England Patriots, 6 p.m. to midnight

Sunday, Oct. 28 Lions vs. Seattle Seahawks, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 18 Lions vs. Carolina Panthers, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 2 Lions vs. LA Rams, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you can’t score tickets to Michigan’s most exciting sports rivalry, then head to Beacon Park for the Big Game Detroit Rally and Tailgate on Saturday, Oct. 20 (time to be announced) to watch the University of Michigan Wolverines vs. Michigan State Spartans game on the big screen. Also, enjoy a Spartan vs. Wolverine cornhole tournament, music, games, ticket giveaways, plus food and drinks for purchase.

Bring the little ones in costume to Beacon Park’s free Halloween Family Fun Day on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 1 p.m.  to 5 p.m. for a howling good time complete with trick and treating, face painting, inflatables, make and take activities, cider and donuts, music and more.
