The Detroit Public School Community District (DPSCD) Police Department is acting as Santa’s helpers to 12 District families including 48 children this Saturday. The DPSCD Police Department collected donations and shopped for the families to provide a luncheon filled with toys and many other surprises.  The Adopt a Family program will culminate in a holiday luncheon celebration with the families on Saturday, December 17 at LGC Global, 7310 Woodward Ave. from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
“We started helping families a few years ago involving the community and we are doing our part to spread holiday cheer,” said Stacy Brackens, Chief of DPSCDPD. “We service these families every day. They are an extended part of our family.”
Every family will receive a meal, an air hockey game and each of the 48 children will receive an individualized gift.
“We recognize that many of our families are without basic necessities and we want to make sure we are addressing their needs,” said Chief Brackens.
