Doctors Treating More RSV Cases in Metro Detroit Children

The COVID-19 pandemic is, seemingly, not through yet — and it’s rearing its ugly in a new way that’s impacting the most vulnerable: children.

WXYZ reported that doctors are beginning to give warnings regarding the respiratory disease, spreading among infants and young children of the respiratory syncytial virus, RSV.

According to the report, the cases among children usually appear in the fall and increase during the cold months during schooltime, yet hospitals are seeing rising trends now of this medical ailment.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said RSV brings 58,000 children (five years old and under) to the hospital annually — and results in between 100 and 500 deaths of children the same age.
