Aligned with the 50-year milestone, DCTI’s founder, George Hill, announces Karl C. Johnson, Jr. as the Company’s new President effective January 2021. The position adds to Karl’s duties as he remains Chief Financial Officer (CFO) reporting to Mr. Hill who will continue as Chairman and CEO of the company.
As President, Karl is responsible for the operations and P&L of DCTI and its subsidiaries. George will concentrate on reducing his operational footprint and focus on strategic growth and personnel development aspects of the Company. With the Company for five years, Karl, was instrumental in restructuring the Company’s ownership resulting in a successful outcome. Karl assumed the position of CFO in June 2018 and effectively strengthened the Company’s financial controls, developed strategic planning platforms, and improved the core financial management systems.
Recently, Karl negotiated a key strategic alliance with a Berkshire Hathaway company to have DCTI manufacture Envirocleanse, an EPA approved water-based disinfectant that kills the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the prelude virus to COVID-19. He was also instrumental in obtaining a long-term contract with the Henkel Corporation, the world’s largest manufacturer of adhesives.

As President, Karl will manage Diversified Chemical Technologies Inc. (DCTI), the holding company for the three Company business units, Adhesive Systems, Inc., Diversified Chemical Technologies Operating, Inc., and Paperworks, Inc., providing customized product solutions and
technical services to the Consumer Packaged Goods, Food & Beverage, Metalworking, Institutional & Industrial Processing and Cleaning, and Healthcare Markets.
Karl received a BA in economics from Yale University and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University. He is married to Elizabeth (Liz) and the proud father of three sons.
DCTI customers are global market leaders including Nestle, Kellogg, Clorox, Procter & Gamble, WestRock, MolsonCoors, and Henkel. As strategic partners, DCTI divisions provide technology services, adhesives, and process chemical solutions to these customers. This is a major achievement for an African American-owned business given only one percent of Black-owned businesses are in the manufacturing sector and less servicing these technical industries.
