DIA to Host Public Screening of “The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks”

Discussion with film’s executive producer, Journalist Soledad O’Brien, and the directors Johanna Hamilton and Yoruba Richen to follow screening at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, February 4.

The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) will host a special screening of The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks, followed by a discussion with the documentary film’s executive producer, journalist Soledad O’Brien, and the directors, Johanna Hamilton and Yoruba Richen, on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. in the DIA’s Detroit Film Theatre, 5200 Woodward Ave.

Based on the best-selling biography of the same name – and the first-ever full-length documentary on the Civil Rights icon and Detroit resident – The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks examines Parks’ life of activism that went well beyond her historic role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955.

The screening and discussion is free with general admission. General museum admission is free for residents of Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties. The event is co-presented by SO’B Productions, The League, The Detroit Free Press, and Detroit Film Theatre.
