The GhostLight Arts Initiative (GLAI) is excited to present the full panelist lineup and the schedule for the very first Detroit IMPACT Arts Conference. This is a unique opportunity for you to engage with and contribute to the vibrant Detroit arts community. The conference, spanning over three days starting on Monday, June 24, will feature a range of workshops, panels, and discussions designed to involve and strengthen the community. The 3-day conference precedes the 4th Annual Obsidian Theatre Festival (OTF), scheduled from Thursday, June 27, to Sunday, June 30.

The inaugural conference theme is “Amplifying Our Stories,” focusing on the power of storytelling and sharing experiences. The conference keynote speaker is Dominique Morisseau, a Detroit native who is an award-winning playwright, Tony Nominee, MacArthur Fellow, and Executive Artistic Producer of Detroit Public Theatre. Her keynote address is scheduled to close out the first day of the conference on Monday, June 24, at 5 p.m.

IMPACT aims to empower and support individual artists, arts organizations, community partners, and funders in Detroit. This involves amplifying the efforts of the current performing arts community in Detroit and actively contributing to the foundational growth of a vibrant and sustainable arts ecosystem within the city.

The GhostLight Arts Initiative aims to positively impact society by using the creative, performing, and media arts as tools for social progress. The organization’s objective is to use various art forms to create lasting and meaningful change within social and cultural structures. GLAI operates as the social enterprise of GhostLight Creative Productions, which is the primary producer of the Obsidian Theatre Festival along with Nicely Theatre Group.

The conference workshops and sessions are scheduled to take place at Wayne State University’s McGregor Memorial Conference Center, located at 495 Gilmour Mall.
