Detroiters Vote on Council Representatives and City Clerk in August 3 Primary

At-Large City Council, Janeé Ayers, District 1 City Councilmember, James Tate, and City Clerk, Janice Winfrey.

 

At-Large City Council

Michigan Chronicle endorsee and incumbent Janeé Ayers won with 34,513 votes; Coleman A. Young, received 34,157 votes as the runner-up.

 

District 1

Michigan Chronicle endorsee James Tate won with 8,926 votes; Krystal Larsosa received 1,513 votes as the runner-up.

 

District 4

Latisha Johnson won with 2,628 votes; journalist M.L. Elrick received 2,015 votes as the runner-up.

 

District 7

Michigan Chronicle endorsee Fred Durhal III, a former state representative for Michigan’s 5th House District won with 2,563 votes; candidate Regina Ross received 2,076 votes as the runner-up.

 

Detroit City Clerk

The Michigan Chronicle endorsed Janice M. Winfrey for re-election for Detroit City Clerk. The incumbent won with a resounding 48,117 votes. Denzel Anton McCampbell garnered 10,434 votes as the runner-up.
