Detroit Woman’s First National Franchise Natural Hair Salon Takes Root

Dana White, successful CEO and founder of Paralee Boyd, is making history in Detroit and nationwide, BLACK ENTERPRISE reported.

White is the first Black woman to franchise a national hair salon after creating a campaign geared at going beyond the typical salon experience.

White’s maternal grandmother is named Boyd and her business is run in the inspiration of her relative. White made it her mission to transform women’s curls in Detroit after opening her  beauty salon model in 2012 as a way to help expedite the clientele experience in a more efficient way.

“We are very deliberate in the information in the data that we collect. We have used our lean manufacturing principles to design a space that allows it to run more efficiently,” she said in a Forbes interview.

Boyd, who grew up in Camp Branch, KY, said that she is “committed to embodying the feel-good experience at the salon.”

“I wanted to create a space that says you are enough and this place is for you,” she said in a previous interview.
