Detroit Welcomes the Braid Gallery Grand Opening July 1st-July 3rd

Braids are not just a style; the craft is a form of art.

In many African tribes, braided hairstyles were a unique way to identify each tribe. Braid patterns and hairstyles were an indication of a person’s tribe, age, marital status, wealth, power, and religion. Braiding was and is a social art.

Because of the amount of time it can take, people often would take the time to socialize. It began with the elders braiding their children, then the children would watch and learn from them. Younger children would start practicing on each other and eventually learn the traditional styles. This tradition of bonding was carried on for generations and quickly made its way across the world. It was around the 1900s when braids became most popular around the world.

Detroit continues to push the envelope as the Braid Gallery is thrilled to announce its grand opening event here in the city.

It is set to be a celebration of the cultural beauty and artistic expressions of hair braiding. The event will run from July 1st to July 3rd at 10612 W. Seven Mile Rd, Detroit, MI.

Guests should prepare to be inspired and emerged in a world where braids are elevated to an art form like never before. Guests will have the opportunity to dive into interactive hands-on workshops from beginner skill levels to expert, where they can learn new techniques, styles, and trends directly from experienced professionals.

Instructors will be on hand to share their knowledge, insights, and tips during Q&A sessions. Refreshments will be available and complimentary goodie bags filled with hair care essentials and surprises will be given away to the first 100 guests.
