Detroit SummerFest, a three-day street party with entertainment on seven stages, including local performers and international Grammy winning artists is scheduled to hit downtown this weekend beginning on Thursday, August 27.
On Friday, the summer’s final 4th Fridays headliner at Comerica Park will feature the reggae band Steel Pulse, and SummerFest will wrap up on Sunday with an electronic dance party featuring legendary house music DJ, Chez Damier! In addition and in between, there will be performances from U.S. Navy band Horizon, Michigan Opera Theatre, Michigan Philharmonic, Mosaic Youth Theatre, the premier Mexican puppet troupe Marionettas de la Esquinas, Splendors of the East representing several cultures through dance, martial arts and theatre performance, and a screening of “MOTOWN 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever” on the big outdoor screen at Campus Martius Park.
