Detroit Run Club WeRun313 Hosting Networking Event for Aspiring Runners

Detroit-based run club WeRun313 is kicking off its running season by hosting a networking event in the community. The event, “Connect + Build with WeRun313,” will take place at The Elevator Building on March 20 from 6 PM to 10 PM. This event is for individuals who’re looking to join the dynamic run club for their forthcoming season. The event will include speakers, nutrition, footwear, and mechanics information, plus more. There will also be a surprise for each attendee at the event.

“We created this event so you can be informed on everything you need to join us this year,” said Joe Robinson, co-founder of WeRun313.

“2019 was incredible,” said Lance Woods, co-founder of WeRun313. “During our off-season, we listened, we went to the drawing board, put together a team, and are coming back better.”

Here are a few tips for new runners looking to get moving:

  1. Invest in the right pair of running shoes.
  2. Join a running group.
  3. Make running a habit, even if that means getting out for a few minutes per day.
  4. Don’t dread taking walk breaks.
  5. Keep a training log.
  6. Set small, achievable goals.

Robinson and Woods started WeRun313. Both men were already medal-winning runners but decided to join forces to inspire others in the black community to become fit and healthy. Since beginning in 2019, the group has received international prominence from top running publications in the world. Recently, the group won the Trivium Racing Southeast Michigan Club champion, a rare feat for a first-time run club.
