Get ready for a thrilling basketball and community fun day as the Detroit Pistons gear up to host two free events at Palmer Park on Saturday, August 10. In a dynamic collaboration with the Pistons Neighbors Program and the Detroit Pistons Youth Council, this exciting lineup promises to bring fans and families together for a memorable celebration of sport and local engagement.

The Pistons Neighbors Program, as part of its commitment to enhancing community engagement through quality programming, is proud to present an exciting summer initiative at Detroit’s parks. This initiative aims to provide free drop-in activities for individuals of all ages. The diverse activities include professionally-led sports clinics, captivating live music performances, invigorating dance classes, and inspiring visual arts workshops. Spanning 12 different parks in Detroit, this initiative promises to offer the community a broad spectrum of opportunities to come together and revel in these enriching and enjoyable experiences.

As part of the organization’s dedication to providing engaging programming at Detroit’s parks, the Pistons Neighbors Program offers a summer initiative featuring free drop-in activities for individuals of all ages. These activities include sports clinics, live music performances, dance classes, and visual arts workshops. This exciting initiative is set to take place at 12 different parks across Detroit, providing a wide range of opportunities for the community to come together and enjoy these enriching experiences.

The day will begin with an exciting event – the second annual All-City Tennis Tournament organized as part of the Detroit Pistons Neighbors Program. The tournament will start at 9 a.m. and gather young and passionate tennis enthusiasts from around the city.

The Detroit Pistons Youth Council, a leadership development program for young people from the metro Detroit area, is all set to host their second annual Family Fun Day event. The event will be in partnership with the tennis tournament and is scheduled for Saturday, August 10, from Noon to 3 p.m. at the beautiful Palmer Park. Attendees can look forward to an afternoon filled with exciting activities, games, and wholesome family fun.

The Family Fun Day event, ideated and created by the Youth Council members, will include a food truck, family fun activities, and Pistons-themed giveaways. Pistons Entertainment Teams, including Pistons Mascot Hooper, Pistons Dancers, and a DJ, will also appear. The Pistons will also partner with the Michigan Secretary of State Office to encourage community members to register to vote onsite.

Created in 2021, the Detroit Pistons Youth Council provides metro Detroit youth the opportunity to deliver feedback and support to the Detroit Pistons organization and to create and participate in various projects and community initiatives.

This event is made possible through a partnership between the Detroit Pistons Foundation, the Pistons Neighbors Program, the USTA, the Motor City Tennis Club, and the Palmer Park Tennis Academy. Registration for the tournament is currently closed.
