Detroit Influencer Randi Rossario Spearheads Mental Health Awareness Town Hall with Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network

Hometown hero Randi Rossario is taking her influence to the next level with a groundbreaking initiative. The viral social media sensation and media guru capping off a whirlwind year by launching a Community Town Hall event in collaboration with the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN). The focus of this event is to foster open conversations about mental health, particularly targeting the youth demographic.

Rossario, widely known as “Social Media’s Favorite Cousin,” has recently become an advocate for mental health awareness, sharing her personal struggles with seasonal depression and navigating post-pandemic anxieties. Recognizing the power of relatability, she emphasizes the need for individuals, especially the youth, to connect with someone who understands their experiences.

“One thing that I noticed is that people – specifically the youth – are more prone to talk about their issues and challenges with someone that looks, talks, and acts like someone they can relate to”, Randi says of her entry into the conversation. “My only goal was to make sure that it was meaningful, and that I could partner with the right group to amplify the message.”

DWIHN is a community mental health organization that served nearly 123,000 people in the past year. This organization has become the perfect ally for Rossario, aligning their efforts to raise awareness about youth mental health and promoting the available resources within their network.

Eric Doeh, President/CEO for DWIHN, expresses the organization’s commitment to being there for their community in multiple ways. “Our goal is for our neighbors and community residents to know that we’re here for them in more ways than they may know”, says Eric Doeh, President/CEO for DWIHN. “Outside of advocating, we also have an abundance of programs and initiatives that are going on regularly, and we would love to get the word out to as many of our residents as possible.”

The synergy between the influencer and the mental health organization will unfold through an exclusive series of conversations scheduled for Wednesday, December 6th, 2023, starting at 6:00 PM. The event will take place at the Dr. LaVonne M. Sheffield Bridge Center Library, located at 9928 Grand River Avenue in Detroit. It promises to be an evening filled with insightful discussions, featuring local guests and influencers, all centered around breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.

The event is free to attend, encouraging open participation from the community. By bringing together the dynamic resources of DWIHN and the magnetic influence of Randi Rossario, this Community Town Hall aims to create a supportive space where individuals can share their experiences, find solace, and discover the array of mental health resources available to them.

As Detroit continues to rebuild and redefine itself, initiatives like these underscore the power of collaboration, compassion, and conversation in nurturing a resilient and thriving community.
