Detroit health care leaders offer affordable health care help

healthcareWith the third open-enrollment period of the Affordable Care Act underway, Detroit area health care leaders are teaming up to offer uninsured Detroiters free help to enroll in quality, affordable coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace. OnThursday, December 3 and Saturday, December 5, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and community organizations will host two events to connect the uninsured with free appointments to meet one-on-one with enrollment assisters that can walk them through their coverage options and help them select a plan that fits their needs and budget.
Consumers interested in meeting with an enrollment assister are asked to bring: proof of citizenship or immigration status; the birth date and income for all family members seeking insurance; their last four pay stubs or W-2 forms; and the policy number of any current health insurance plans.
The current open enrollment period opened on November 1, 2015 and will run through January 31, 2016. During this period, any Michigander who is uninsured, underinsured, or has questions about their coverage options can log on to healthcare.gov or schedule an appointment with a free, in-person enrollment assister by visitingwww.getcoveredamerica.org/connector.
The events are open to the public and the media is encouraged to attend.
**** To RSVP for any of the events, media is asked to email Paydon Miller at PMiller@enrollamerica.org ****
