'Detroit Girls Can' career retreat WCCCD's Eastern campus

‘The first-ever Detroit Girls Can retreat will empower and educate young women with straight talk from Detroit-area leaders on career, education and financial management on Saturday May 30, 2015 from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the WCCCD Eastern Campus, located at 5901 Conner in Detroit.
This full- day retreat is open to young women ages 14-18 at no cost. Registration is open and available at https://detroitgirlscan.org or by calling (313) 922-3311.
“The teenage years are a profound time for young women. These are the years they develop a fuller sense of who they are, who they want to grow to be, and how they fit in the world,” said WCCCD Eastern Campus President Mawine Diggs. “We want to provide young women with the tools and information they need to propel them towards their success, and to impress upon them that there is no ceiling to how far they can ascend.”
Presentations and activities are centered on creating and projecting a positive self-image, connecting with higher educational opportunities during high school years, how to explore a variety of career paths, and how to manage personal finance and communication skills.
A detailed list of the event’s schedule and information on how to register is located on the Detroit Girls Can Website. www.detroitgirlscan.org
