Local Detroit entrepreneurs Chef Max Hardy of the nonprofit 86 Hunger, Each One Help One, Tiffany Lean on Me, Fenkell Gospel
Temple, Hon. Sherry Gay-Dagnogo, M.Ed., and Team Wellness are coming together to host a Friendsgiving food distribution for Detroit and surrounding communities this Tuesday, November 22, starting at 11 am at 3646 Mt. Elliot, Detroit. The give-back event will
provide free hot meals to 400+ families in need.
“When it comes to supporting Detroit, I do what I know best, and that is sharing a hearty meal with my community,” said chef Max of COOP Detroit and JEDs Detroit. “The message we want to send is the importance of helping others all year, not only during the holidays. Initiatives like Team Wellness and the team at 86 Hunger know that poverty and food insecurity don’t disappear after the holiday season. We desire to give back and inspire others to act and help our neighbors in need.”
Team Wellness East will host the community give-back event at 3646 Mt. Elliot, Detroit, MI 48207, from 11 am until meals are distributed. This year’s event will be anchored by the Royal Bird Food Truck. The menu will be prepared in individual boxes, including shrimp, grits and
bottled water.
“One of the best things about Detroit is our ability to unite and uplift each other. That’s the spirit at the heart of this event and the mission of our partners at Lean on Me and Team Wellness.
Shelter, food, and mental health resources are basic necessities that everyone should be able to access. This event is to remind those in need that support is accessible and remind those who can to share a helping hand,” said Chef Max.
The meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The event is walk-up only, and the volunteers request that anyone feeling under the weather wear a mask to keep everyone safe ahead of holiday gatherings.
