Department Hotline Open to Assist Voters
Detroit Department of Elections officials issued a number of reminders to voters regarding the November 3 Presidential Election, including a request for voters to drop off their absentee ballots rather than mailing them.
Absentee Ballots
Elections officials are stressing to individuals with absentee ballots to return them as soon as possible to the Department of Elections, 2978 W. Grand Blvd., or to one of the 23 satellite voting centers or 30 drop boxes across the city. With the election just days away, mailing in an absentee ballot is not recommended. Those dropping off, mailing or picking up absentee ballots for another person must live in the household with that individual or be an immediate family or a postal worker.
Voting Absentee
The satellite voting centers are open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The only exception is the satellite voting center at Coleman Young Municipal Center is closed on weekends. The voting centers will be open on Nov. 3 (Election Day) until 8 p.m.
“With these measures, we are making every effort to ensure that every Detroiter who wants to vote gets the chance to do so safely and securely,” said George Azzouz, Department of Elections Director.
Registering to Vote
An individual can register to vote at any time up to 8 p.m. on Election Day at the Detroit Department of Elections, 2978 W. Grand Blvd.
Voting In Person on Election Day
Registered voters should go to their assigned Detroit polling location on Nov. 3. Polls are open from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m., and those in line at 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote. Elections workers will be equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE) and will follow safety guidelines.
In terms of polling location changes, individuals have been notified of the polling relocation from Cambridge Towers to Henry Ford High School.

Elections Hotline
The Department also will extend its voter hotline to 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. The hotline number is 313 876-VOTE (8683). Individuals calling the hotline can get information on absentee ballots, voter registration and general election information.
