Detroit Economic Growth Corporation (DEGC) has appointed Kenyetta Hairston-Bridges, Executive Vice President of Economic Development and Investment Services at the organization, as its new Chief Operating Officer. In her new role, Hairston-Bridges will be responsible for overseeing the DEGC’s operations, including strategic planning, program development, and day-to-day management to drive growth and innovation, and position Detroit as an ideal landing spot for companies.
DEGC President and CEO Kevin Johnson expressed his excitement in having Hairston-Bridges as the new COO, stating that her experience and proven track record of success make her the perfect choice to help drive the organization’s continued growth and success. Hairston-Bridges has been with the DEGC since 2005 and has held numerous leadership positions within the economic agency’s Real Estate and Financial Services unit.
Hairston-Bridges has over 18 years of experience in economic development and has played an integral role in facilitating major business investments on behalf of the DEGC. She has spearheaded significant projects such as the Stellantis Assembly Plant in Detroit, Ford’s acquisition of Michigan Central Train Station, Detroit Pistons Headquarters and Practice Facility, Flex-n-Gate, and redevelopment of the former Cadillac Stamping site for Lear Corporation.
Hairston-Bridges said she is excited to continue working with an organization that is making a real difference in creating economic opportunity for Detroiters. Hairston-Bridges has been recognized for her achievements in economic development and was named one of Crain’s Detroit Business Notable Women in Real Estate. She was also honored as a Women of Excellence in the Michigan Chronicle. Before joining DEGC, Hairston-Bridges worked for various financial institutions and the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART).
