Detroit City Distillery is turning up the heat with its first-ever Hot Honey Bourbon, crafted with Bees in the D honey. The small-batch release goes on sale Friday, Aug. 8, at 8 a.m. online, with pickup starting at 4 p.m. in the Eastern Market tasting room. Bottles are $60 and expected to sell out fast.
The bourbon starts smooth with honeyed sweetness and finishes with a fiery kick, perfect for spicing up a Gold Rush, giving an Old Fashioned some edge, or sipping neat.
The launch party will feature Bees in the D sampling honey and selling local products, specialty cocktails at the bar and Mootz Bee Sting Pizza slices for the first 75 guests. Bees in the D Hot Honey also goes on sale online at 8 a.m. for pickup at DCD.
Detroit City Distillery first partnered with Bees in the D in 2019 to create its popular Honey Bourbon, made from honey harvested from hives atop its Eastern Market building. The hit became a permanent fixture in 2020.
“When we started our collaboration with Bees in the D back in 2019, we never imagined how much people would love the Honey Bourbon,” said DCD co-owner J.P. Jerome. “We’re thrilled to offer this hot honey iteration now. It’s smooth, it’s sweet and it’s got just the right amount of heat.”
Hot Honey Bourbon drops Aug. 8. Doors open, the buzz builds, and Detroit gets its next bold sip.
