Detroit Business Woman Earns Spot on National TV Gameshow

DETROIT — She left Detroit for a trip to Los Angeles all to joke around, win money, all while on television. Detroiter Alison Vaughn will be featured in the new FOX television syndicated game show, You Bet Your Life. It’s a revival of the longtime quiz show which formerly aired  in the 1940s,1950s and in syndication in periodic years thereafter.

The new version which debuted in September is hosted by comedian Jay Leno, alongside his former NBC Tonight Show bandleader Kevin Eubanks as co-host.

“You have to have lots of energy,” said Vaughn, as she explained part of the reason producers selected her to be a contestant. “Most people in Detroit see me as conservative, the business woman, the CEO, …but on this show you will definitely see a different side of me.”

The comedic quiz show pairs up two strangers contestants who try to help each other for several games to win cash and prizes. The show is known for its low cash value prizes but the unique side of what makes the show special, are it contestants who are everyday people.

“There’s no politics here. We just want everyone to be laughing at the end,” Leno said, according to a Variety article. “Everybody’s so angry. We need to see more fun on TV.”

Founder and CEO of Jackets for Jobs, Inc. says she wasn’t coming back to Detroit empty handed. “I told Jay I wasn’t going home with a toaster oven”, as she laughed.

The all expense paid trip to L.A. for the show’s taping was an exciting adventure and says it was a cool moment as she explained Leno wants to work with normal, everyday people who can be fun.

You Bet Your Life airs in syndication, distributed by Fox Corp.’s Fox First Run. Vaugn’s episode airs in the Detroit market, Wednesday at 11:30pm on FOX 2.
