DETROIT (WWJ) – The story of a young Detroit boy who went missing on Halloween has ended on a positive note.
Family, friends and Detroit police were searching frantically on Thursday for 9-year-old Tywon Young who left his home on Calvert Street, near Durfee Elementary-Middle School, on the city’s west side, at around 4:30 p.m. on Halloween.
His mother told police her son said he was going to meet up with friends but he never returned home. Police checked the area around his home and talked with his friends, who said Tywon never showed up. His mother and some neighbors were kicking doors down of abandoned houses searching for the boy.
But, late Thursday morning, Tywon showed up at school.
So, where was he all night?
Talking to WWJ’s Vickie Thomas, Tywon’s mother said a neighbor on Cortland Street had let Tywon stay overnight with her 12-year-old son. Tyson neglected to tell his mother about his sleepover plans, and told the neighbor his mom said it would be OK.
Police were talking to the neighbor later Thursday.
Tywon was not harmed.
