Fahrenheit 313, Detroit’s hottest sneaker exchange, plans to open its doors to the public with a 313 Day grand opening and rebrand celebration at the their storefront (20114 Livernois Avenue). During the grand opening, customers will be able to view the one of a kind built out retail space as well as purchase from Fahrenheit 313’s expansive shoe collection including rare deadstock and vintage sneakers. The grand opening will also feature giveaways, live entertainment and sneaker raffles. Following the event Fahrenheit 313 will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 6pm and during the week starting summer 2020.
“We’ve worked tirelessly to get to this point and it’s so rewarding to finally be able to share our collection with those who also have a love for sneakers,” said Frederick Paul II, owner of Fahrenheit 313. “I understand the love that people have for sneakers, which is why I wanted to provide an additional retail option here in my hometown. Our goal is to create a unique shopping experience where Detroiters can purchase new and classic styles, all within the city limits.”
Paul founded Fahrenheit 313, formerly known as The Heat Factory, in 2016 after struggling as a cash-strapped college student. That experience led him to sell some of his old vintage sneakers to accumulate extra funds. He successfully sold multiple pairs of shoes, which eventually inspired him to create his own retail brand. After managing the business for a few years, Paul went on to receive both the Motor City Match space award, a $25,000 cash grant, as well as the TechTown Retail Bootcamp Pitch Showcase award.
Since launching, Fahrenheit 313 has also remained invested in giving back to the community. In 2016, Paul launched the #BehindTheHats campaign which provided 30 meals for Gleaners Food Bank. Back in 2017, Paul began organizing the City Champ Series, which features three different sporting events that encourages residents to get active while serving the community. Money raised from the events has provided collegiate book scholarships and more than 100 fully stocked backpacks for Detroit Public Schools Community District students. Moving forward, Paul hopes to continue his partnership with DPSCD by donating a percentage of the store’s membership sales to the school district.
“As a graduate of Detroit Public Schools Community School District, it’s important for me to sew back into the village that has helped me get to where I am today,” said Frederick Paul, owner of Fahrenheit 313. “My hope is that the students who are in the same seats I once sat in, will be inspired to become positive leaders of our community and the next generation of entrepreneurs from Detroit.”
