Detroit Artist ZanYe' and Actor Darrin Dewitt Henson Team Up For CD Release Concert Benefiting the Wright Museum

zanyeDetroit’s native, recordings R&B Artist, ZanYé releases her sophomore music project, ‘Conversations in efforts to benefit the historic Charles H. Wright African American Museum. On Sunday, July 27th starting at 5pm, guest will enjoy a concert featuring music from ZanYe’s CD release. Special guest includes, Actor Darrin Dewitt Henson (known for his roles in Stomp the Yard, and Soulfood), host for the evening, the Honorable Judge Strong, and a comedic relief from 105.9fm, and longtime comedian, Coco.
The Charles H. Wright Museum is currently the world’s largest institution dedicated to the African American experience. Over the last few years, funding has been cut for art and archival institutions across the country. All funding from the benefit concert will be donated towards these efforts to support the museum.
Having the privilege to chat with ZanYe’ and Darrin both discuss the importance of this benefit concert to preserve our culture. “Without history we don’t know where we’re going, or where we came from. It’s difficult to flourish without knowing your history. It’s really important as a generation and as a culture to have a strong history background. They’re taking a lot of things from us, without the museum we would have nothing to reference to.” ZanYe’ remarks.
Actor Darrin Dewitt, adds “To know where we come from is very important to our society. We must continue to educate not only ourselves but also the next generation and forgoing generations. This is pivotal to our future. Detroit has an amazing spirit and an amazing history.”
The title of her debuted CD ‘Conversations inspired from day-to-day dialogues in life. As she states, “Everything we do starts from a conversation, rather it’s a business, a partnership, or a relationship. This project really talks about relationship conversations, and conversations over all.”
Though difficulties have aroused in her life, she shares the meaning and her personal testimony behind her song titled Keep It Moving.
“First and foremost, I could do nothing without God. I look to God first. My family is a motivator for me. Through this song, I  want to inspire and uplift those who may have been in similar situations as I have, I want listeners to know no matter what’s going on in the world or in life, you simply have to keep it moving.” She says.
Deeply rooted in her childhood memories, her music reminds you of the sweet melodies of jazz, mixed with her own personal sound. We’re excited to hear her music while supporting a greater cause.
