Detroit Art Week (DAW), produced by Olu & Company, is excited to announce the return of its highly anticipated week-long programming dedicated to contemporary art, design, and culture. Artists, designers, galleries, organizations, and institutions are now invited to apply for participation in DAW 2025. This citywide celebration, running from July 16 through July 20, 2025, promises to engage visitors and residents with a rich array of exhibition openings, studio visits, performances, panel discussions, and special events.

As Detroit continues to establish itself as a thriving art and culture hub, DAW is poised to return stronger than ever after a brief hiatus. Past iterations have showcased the talents of over 250 participants from Detroit’s vibrant creative community. Open to the public, DAW offers a mix of free and ticketed events, ensuring accessibility for all. Applications are now open and will close on November 30 at midnight.

“We are thrilled to return to Detroit Art Week’s annual programming,” say Aleiya Lindsey Olu and Amani Olu, co-founders of DAW. “Our aim is to foster provocative discussions on pressing contemporary issues while highlighting the diverse artistic practices, organizations, and businesses in the city. We hope to cultivate an international audience alongside Detroit’s creative community and continue advancing Detroit’s legacy as a destination for innovation.”

In its third iteration, Detroit Art Week will place a special emphasis on the synergy between contemporary art and design. Design and architecture firms are especially encouraged to apply, reflecting the event’s broadened focus.

Opportunities for Participation

On View: Artists, designers, Detroit-based galleries, institutions, and unconventional venues are invited to apply for DAW On View. Exhibition spaces may range from traditional galleries to alternative settings such as cafes, shipping containers, or living rooms. Context: This programming is an integral part of DAW, spanning various locations across the city. Proposals are currently being accepted for a wide range of events, including cocktail parties, dinners, studio visits, panel discussions, performances, artist talks, and private collection viewings. Context programming can be a single-day event or extend over multiple days.

Hosting: Those interested in activating their spaces for On View or Context programming are encouraged to apply. DAW organizers will match hosts with suitable programs or exhibitions based on fit and need, enhancing the collaborative spirit of the event.
