Debra Lee on Don Lemon’s CNN Exit: ‘I Hated to See Him Go’

Former CEO of BET, Debra Lee, weighed-in on Don Lemon’s departure from CNN. Her remarks were from a recent joint interview by Andre Ash of Michigan Chronicle and A.R. Shaw from Atlanta Daily World.

“I admire Don Lemon a lot,” Lee said. “I know he’ll end up somewhere in a good position, but I hated to see him go.”

Her statements follow’s the former cable news anchor’s exit from CNN after being with the company for 17 years. The exit also comes after months of alleged and reported rifts behind the scenes between Lemon and his colleagues. 

Lee, noted she couldn’t go into detail as it relates to Lemon’s departure. She’s a board-member with Warner Brothers-Discovery, the parent company of CNN.

Lee, a media mogul and former media executive to BET for over 20 years, has been on a book tour with the recent release of her new memoir, I am Debra Lee. Lee sat down with Real Times Media for a wide-raging discussion.
