Hello, CTS Coupe.

Looking to up its ante in the luxury segment, Cadillac unveiled the 2011 CTS Coupe at the Los Angeles Auto Show after first debuting the concept at the 2008 North American International Auto Show.

Slated to arrive in Cadillac showrooms in the spring of 2010, the CTS builds on the success of the CTS sedan and is positioned to become the centerpiece of the brand’s revised lineup.

“CTS Coupe is the new focal point of Cadillac, expressing both our technical and design capabilities,” said Bryan Nesbitt, Cadillac general manager. “It is intended to appeal to a new generation of car enthusiasts.”

The Coupe caps n a pretty comprehensive vehicle lineup for Cadillac, which includes the CTS Sport Sedan, the 556-horsepower (415 kW) CTS-V, the new CTS Sport Wagon and, of course, the still popular Cadillac Escalade which now includes a Hybrid model.

A high-performance V-Series edition of the Coupe will also be become available in 2010.

Most impressive is the fact that the CTS Coupe’s design is practically unchanged from the concept car that was introduced at the Detroit auto show in 2008.

The styling cues took shape at Cadillac’s dedicated design studio, where designers develop and evolve the brand’s Art and Science design philosophy.

“Cadillac has always been an emotional brand; it’s about delivering art regardless of body style,” said Max Wolff, director of exterior design for Cadillac. “With the CTS Coupe, it was about taking something very strong – the CTS Sport Sedan – and extending its potential.”

The CTS Coupe’s standard powertrain consists of a direct injected 3.6L V-6 with 304 horsepower matted to a six-speed manual transmission.

The Coupe also features the convenience features we’ve come to expect from Cadillac, such as an integrated iPod/MP3 capability, pop-up navigation system, adaptive forward lighting system, standard keyless access and remote start, rear camera system and Bose 5.1 surround audio system.
