The Crowne Plaza Detroit Downtown Convention Center, previously the Hotel Pontchartrain, opened at 2 Washington Blvd. across the street from the Cobo Center, sources say there has been $5 million in renovation to its rooms, lobby and restaurant.
The Crowne Plaza Detroit is still being expanded and renovated. A grand opening is expected in September.
The hotel’s new owner is the Mexican and European investors group Pontchartrain Detroit Hotel LLC, operated by Equity Hospitality Management and franchised by an affiliate of Denham, England-based InterContinental Hotels Group.
