Council President Donald F. Fracassi will officially assume the role of Acting Mayor on Monday, January 5 at 5 p.m. with the resignation of Mayor / Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence.
The Southfield City Charter mandates that the current City Council President serve as the Acting Mayor should that office be vacated, and that the current Council President Pro Tem serve as the Acting Council President. As such, Council President Donald Fracassi will serve as the Acting Mayor and Council President Pro Tem Sylvia Jordan will serve as Acting Council President until the November 2015 general election.
On December 29, Dr. Lloyd Crews took the oath of office to serve on the Southfield City Council to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former Councilman Jeremy Moss who was elected as the new State Representative for Michigan’s 35th House District. Councilman Crews was selected by City Council as the fifth place candidate for Southfield City Council in the November 5, 2013 election. Dr. Crews will serve the remainder of former Councilman Moss’ term which expires in November of 2015.
