Cornel Batie

Appointed as Chief Financial Officer in December 2015, Cornell Batie joins the Walker-Miller Energy Services team after serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of the prestigious Detroit Jazz Festival (DJF) since 2006.  With more than 15 years of proven work experience and leadership in financial management, Cornell is highly regarded as a solutions-driven customer-centric manager who leverages leadership, strategic thinking and financial expertise in business.
Cornell is a native Detroiter who holds two undergraduate degrees in Management and Accounting from the University of Detroit Mercy, and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and International Business from Wayne State University.  During his tenure with the Detroit Jazz Festival, the largest free jazz festival in the world, he developed and implemented a financial operation system for the organization.  The results of his financial strategies included increasing sponsorships by 40% and identifying a 25% savings in the DJF’s technology services.  Cumulatively, his implemented strategies for sustainable growth saved the DJF tens of thousands of dollars annually.   He was recognized for his achievements by Crain’s Detroit Business when selected as CFO of the Year in 2012.
Cornell’s financial expertise and acumen, as well as his engaging leadership approach are a valuable addition to Walker-Miller’s leadership team.  Along with overseeing the company’s financial and accounting systems, his responsibilities will include directing human resources as well as the information technology operations.
