Ed Gordon Media announced the start of syndication of “Conversations with Ed Gordon,” a quarterly, one-hour special hosted by the award-winning journalist and interviewer. With Gordon serving as host and executive producer, the specials will be aired nationally, including on all ten NBC- owned and operated affiliates. The first special begins airing Sunday, April 28, 2013. (A list of specific airdates, times and markets can be found below).
The debut special features one-on-one interviews with comedian Kevin Hart, actress and producer Whoopi Goldberg and R&B vocalist KEM. Gordon says that the special will take the same unique approach that he has been known for over the years. “I’ve always merged the news with other issues,” said Gordon. I’ve always done a little bit of everything. In terms of the appetite for what America wants and what the community wants, hard news will always be there, but it’s not as popular as it once was. I hope that hard news doesn’t go away — but certainly there’s a role for celebrity news.
“Among the sponsors that are signed up for “Conversations” are AT&T, AARP, Chrysler and Walmart. Gordon is also the host of the nationally syndicated radio program, WEEKend WITH ED GORDON. The 2-hour program is a mix of talk, information, entertainment and music. It’s been called “a fun, smart radio show for grown folks.” The list of impressive positions Gordon has held as a broadcaster over the years, includes contributing correspondent for the CBS newsmagazine 60 Minutes II and contributor for NBC’s “Today Show” and “Dateline.”
Gordon’s diverse style also makes him one of the most versatile people in broadcasting. He also hosted News and Notes with Ed Gordon, which aired on National Public Radio and the nationally syndicated television program, Our World with Black Enterprise and Weekly With Ed Gordon, a fast-paced roundtable talk show on BET that highlighted the week’s most important stories from politics to pop culture.
