School proms are just around the corner and once again Wayne County Commission
Vice-Chair Alisha Bell (D-District 8) is striving to make this high school tradition
memorable for all through her 5th Annual “Belle of the Ball” Prom Dress Donation Program.
Distribution of prom dresses for young ladies wishing to attend their 2012 events
will take place Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club, located at
16500 Tireman in Detroit. Dresses will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis.
Donations of new and like-new formal and semi-formal dresses and accessories,
including shoes, purses and jewelry for young ladies, are being accepted through Saturday,
April 21.
“For the past four years now we have had a tremendous outpouring of generosity
from the community and this year promises to be no different,” Commissioner Bell said. “All
high school girls dreams of attending their prom. And to help make those dreams come true
is the reason I invite any girl in need of a prom dress to come and join in on the fun Saturday,
April 28. I’m sure there will be a twinkle in the eyes of a lot of young ladies when they find
out prom night will really be happening for them.”
