As part of Comerica Bank’s $3 million investment into reshaping the bank’s Detroit presence, Comerica will open a new banking center at West Grand Boulevard and Third Street on Tuesday November 12.
The new street-level banking center completes a relocation that first began in 2017 when Comerica sold its West Grand Boulevard-Sterling property to Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) to help to pave the way for a new cancer center. To further support this initiative, Comerica also donated $100,000 to HFHS.

Our new banking center in Detroit’s New Center, which is part the overall investment in reshaping our Detroit presence, provides a more convenient location that improves access and services we can provide.”
The opening of the new West Grand Boulevard-Third banking center in Detroit’s New Center business district replaces Comerica’s banking center operating inside the Fisher Building, which closes Friday, November 8 at 5 p.m.
Comerica will also serve customers through two Banker Connect interactive teller-line machines offering customers access to a virtual customer service representative. The Banker Connect stations are moving from the corner of Lincoln and West Grand Boulevard to the new West Grand Boulevard and Third banking center.
Banker Connect offers extended service hours (Mon.-Fri. 8 a.m.-10 p.m. ET and Sat. 8 a.m.-5 p.m. ET). The service representative can assist customers make cash deposits with immediate availability, deposit cash or checks, withdraw cash with choice of denomination, transfer money, make installment payments and receive additional account information. A walk-up ATM will also provide customers additional service at the West Grand Boulevard-Third banking center.
As the largest banking center network in Detroit, Comerica is the only bank with at least 20 banking centers serving customers in Detroit’s business districts and neighborhoods throughout the city.
In addition to 20 Detroit banking centers, Comerica’s Michigan headquarters, located in the downtown business district, operates as the central hub serving Comerica’s banking and operations centers located in nearly 80 communities across the state. Comerica has invested over $20 million into its Michigan headquarters since 2010.
Comerica announced plans in 2017 to invest $3 million and reshape its presence in and around downtown Detroit.
Following the sale of West Grand Boulevard-Sterling property to HFHS, Comerica Bank opened a banking center in the historic Penobscot Building in 2018 to complete the relocation of its nearby Fort-Washington banking center. Comerica Bank returned to its roots with the opening in the Penobscot Building. Comerica’s predecessor Detroit Savings Bank moved to the original 13-story building in 1906. The Penobscot building also housed the main office of Manufacturers Bank when the bank was formed in 1933. Manufacturers merged with Comerica in 1992.
