Falling back into civilian life, Hackett gets a job as an armored guard at the same company his father used to work where he comes under the tutelage of his godfather, Michael Cochrane, played by Matt Dillon.

On the last day of his probationary period, his coworkers take him to the bar to celebrate. Before the night’s end, the conversation digresses to discussing the breaches in the security system, failed robberies and successful heists. Cochrane reiterates the possibility of pulling off a successful heist, mentioning that the guards in Texas did it themselves.

With a $42 million pickup waiting in the wings, Cochrane spearheads the perfect crime between six armored guards. Proposing that he slip away to stash the money in an abandoned warehouse while the rest of the guards call in the fake robbery, their main hurdle is to get Ty on- board.

Faced with foreclosure and his brother being carted off to foster care, he forms an alliance with the rest of the crew.

Elaborating on the authentic bond between him and his brother, Jimmy, on-screen, Short said, “I think if I didn’t have a son, there wouldn’t be a truth in the relationship that me and my brother had in the position that I had to have as the fatherly figure.”

As the movie progresses, the once seemingly smooth heist turns into an imbroglio, leading to people’s lives hanging in the balance.
