City of Detroit Opens Flood Damage Resource Centers for Residents

rainfall11As of Tuesday, August 19, Detroit residents who have flood damage from the recent storm, have two locations to visit where they can receive information on financial assistance, social services, hiring restoration contractors, obtaining construction permits and health information.

Representatives from the following agencies will be on hand to assist Detroit residents from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, August 22. The centers will be open for storm assistance this week only.

Michigan Health & Human Services will offer assistance with completing applications for possible financial assistance and social services.

Detroit Buildings Safety, Engineering & Environmental Department will offer tips on hiring contractors and information on obtaining permits, if required.

Detroit Department of Health & Wellness Promotion will advise citizens on health precautions to take.

In addition, representatives from Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), that includes American Red Cross and Salvation Army, will offer their services at the centers.
